Job Overview

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a FSQA Intern at our Manchester Plant located in Manchester, Tennessee. This position is a paid internship, starting in June and going through August of 2026. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Review historical data on quality metrics and product safety, and assist in analyzing and reporting findings
  • Review Environmental Monitoring Program Master Swab Schedule
  • Evaluate current Sanitary Indicatory Organism Testing methods.
  • Review HACCP/Food Safety Plan(s).

Required Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Science, Agriculture, Chemistry, or a similar field of study.
  • Year in school: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. 
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
    Must be legally authorized to work a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate research experience.
  • Technical Writing.
  • Problem solving. 
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions

• Safety glasses, hearing protection, and hair nets are required. Beard nets, hard hats, and safety-toed shoes may be required.
• Work is performed across multiple sites, office setting, warehouse floor (cold environment) and in various locations as needed.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
