Job Overview

In the Senior Tax Accountant role, you will be a key member of the finance team, responsible for supporting tasks relating to federal, state and local planning initiatives and audits. You will play a key role in researching and analyzing tax items. Further, in this role, you will also assist with federal, state and local compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform research and analyze federal and state tax matters.
  • Provide analysis and information required in tax planning activities.
  • Prepare responses to federal and state tax notices, audits and other tax-related correspondence.
  • Analyze accounting books and records to determine tax issues and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and work papers for all projects completed to support the tax filings.
  • Assist with additional federal and state tax projects as needed.
  • Assists with tax planning and compliance related projects.
  • Prepare and review federal, state and local returns.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience in U.S federal and/or state tax.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel. 
  • Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • MBA in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4 or more years related experience with a large accounting firm. 
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and complete work within established deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and establish strong relationships with other individuals and teams.
  • Ability and desire to drive process improvements.
  • Must be able to adjust to changing priorities, possess strong time-management skills, able to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical skills related to tax and operating situations.
  • Experience in using additional accounting tools including Corptax, GoSystems, Corptax Office, ProSystems, OneSource, and Superforms to prepare corporate state and local tax returns.
  • Ability to perform a detailed review of estimated payments, extensions, withholding calculations, and related filings.

Working Conditions

• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
• Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with some time spent in a manufacturing environment
