Job Overview
The Senior Engineer, Digital Workplace will be responsible for leading the end-to-end implementation of Collaboration Platform/Digital Workplace solution. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, solution architecture, and project management skills to align the platform capabilities with business objectives, ensuring seamless and secure collaboration across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge in Microsoft 365 administration, experience in collaboration tools, and strong skills in managing implementation projects from inception to delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with IT and Business teams to develop a comprehensive digital workplace solution that aligns with business objectives and enhances organizational collaboration.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions, ensuring business needs drive platform development.
- Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Microsoft 365 collaboration tools, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and supporting components.
- Conduct thorough assessments of existing workflows, user requirements, and security needs to design a tailored future-state solution.
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and configuration plans, to ensure comprehensive and clear guidance for implementation.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for platform implementations, ensuring adherence to scope and project milestones.
- Drive the implementation of collaboration platforms from initiation through delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
- Oversee the operational health and security of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, managing and configuring policies, compliance settings, and access controls.
- Support collaboration platform features such as Teams, SharePoint, and file sharing, integrating them with other systems and ensuring alignment with company policies.
- Administer Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) for user and group provisioning, role-based access control, and governance settings, ensuring secure identity management.
- Configure self-service options, device management, and access controls to maintain security standards while supporting collaboration.
- Manage Microsoft Server products, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure DNS/DHCP, and file/print services, to ensure secure and effective system integration.
- Implement best practices for compliance and data protection, such as data loss prevention, retention policies, and information governance across M365.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex level 2/3 support issues, providing advanced troubleshooting for M365-related issues.
- Drive innovation by testing new collaboration technologies through proofs of concept, introducing functionality that improves user experience and productivity.
- Configure and manage capacity for Azure subscriptions to support resource planning and scalability.
- Develop and maintain internal documentation for team use, including configuration documentation, diagrams, and how-to guides.
- Conduct regular reviews of collaboration workflows and business continuity risks, ensuring platform resilience.
- Support device imaging, deployment, and inventory management to streamline platform usage across devices.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams on business continuity planning and adapt platform solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in the administration of collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Power Apps, Viva, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Azure Active Directory (AD).
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of enterprise-scale collaboration platforms.
- Proficient in administering SharePoint, Exchange on-premises, and file server environments.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 capabilities, including advanced features, automation, and integration options.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure AD, including identity and access management.
- Familiarity with NIST or similar security standards as they apply to Microsoft 365 environments.
- Strong project management abilities with a history of leading complex, cross-functional projects to successful completion.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, with experience handling level 2/3 support escalations.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-team interactions.
- Availability for 24/7 support on an on-call basis.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of GLC’s manufacturing processes.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with cloud migrations and IT infrastructure management
- Microsoft certifications MS-102 and/or MS-900 are a plus
- Experience using PowerShell to manage, configure, and troubleshoot Windows servers and Microsoft 365 environments.
