Job Overview

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Quality Assurance intern at our Fillmore, Utah location.

Great Lakes Cheese's Summer 2024 Intern Cohort will:

  • Participate in a variety of business projects and opportunities as part of the GLC Intern Association,
  • Participate in both personal and professional developmental workshops
  • Participate and execute a community service project in alignment with GLC’s corporate social responsibility initiative.


All GLC interns are expected to:

  • Perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures
  • Produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectations of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.


This position is a paid internship.

Job Responsibilities

An overview of the projects is listed below:

Fillmore: Risk Assessment, SSOP Upgrades with Pictures, Data Analysis (Trends complaints etc.), Food Safety Culture Survey.

Required Education and Experience

  • Actively enrolled in or possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a similarly related field.
  • Only undergraduate students will be considered for this position.
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be legally authorized to work a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a lab setting.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
