Job Overview
The Manager, IT Infrastructure Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Great Lakes Cheese’s IT infrastructure, including data center operations, infrastructure systems, storage, compute solutions, and backup and recovery services. This role ensures the availability, security, and efficiency of these systems while also managing day-to-day support and operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage data center operations and IT systems infrastructure.
- Manage critical systems uptime, meeting established SLAs.
- Effectively manage IT infrastructure lifecycle (from planning to decommission)
- Lead, mentor, and develop the IT Infrastructure team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Provide technical leadership for infrastructure initiatives, serving as the key knowledge resource while working closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers to support infrastructure project execution, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Maintain and support plant IT infrastructure, including compute, storage, backup, cooling, power, and other environmental systems.
- Drive business continuity and disaster recovery planning, working with IT and business teams to implement effective solutions.
- Manage and support infrastructure software solutions, collaborating with IT, shop floor system owners, DBAs, and application specialists.
- Partner with information security to ensure the infrastructure meets all security requirements and continues to evolve over time to meet changing needs and best practices.
- Manage building access and security camera systems across the enterprise.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance system availability, performance, and efficiency.
- Assist with budget management related to hardware, software, and staffing needs.
- Respond to critical infrastructure issues as needed, including after-hours and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with a proven track record in technical and leadership roles.
- IT experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the dairy or food industry.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and rack designs.
- Strong background in virtualization, storage, and network technologies, such as:
o Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.
o Storage: SAN, NAS, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)
o Networking: Routing, switching, firewalls
- Expertise in storage solutions (e.g., Pure Flash Array) and active/active high-availability architectures.
- Strong knowledge of directory services, including Active Directory, ADFS, LDAP, and hybrid AD setups.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions, such as Veeam.
- Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and developing talent.
- Ability to assess business impact of IT changes and proactively communicate risks and solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously while delivering results on time and within scope
- Experience with change management and system controls to ensure operational stability.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, troubleshoot effectively, and work independently.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% within the United States.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Business or a relevant technical discipline
- Relevant certifications; Microsoft, Pure Storage, Veeam, VMWare, etc.
- Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Cisco & Arista technologies
- SAP technical domain expertise
- Shop floor systems knowledge
