Job Overview

The Corporate Controls Engineer will be working in a large, highly-automated manufacturing enterprise with responsibility for the line automation, process control and process information systems. This will require working with original equipment manufacturers, outside vendors, engineers, equipment manufacturers and controls manufacturers as well as with the internal IT, Operations & Maintenance Departments.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain and support plant-wide automation systems.
  • Assimilate a thorough understanding of all aspects of the PLC-based shop floor automation and control systems equipment for high speed processing and packaging applications.
  • Design Process Controls Systems & Strategies
  • Specify, Procure & Perform maintenance on PLC and HMI systems including programming & backups of programs. 
  • Specify & procure Motor Control Centers (MCC’s), servo and VFD drive systems, control hardware and field instrumentation.
  • Control Panel Design / Wiring.
  • Support and help maintain GLC General System Design Process and Packaging Equipment Specification.
  • Provide Engineering support for OEM factory and site acceptance testing on new equipment.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent discipline. 
  • 3 years of electrical engineering industrial controls experience or more.
  • 3 years of experience at a minimum working with the latest line of Allen Bradley PLCs, Including Control Logix, Compact Logix, Micrologix, Point IO, Flex IO etc. 
  • 3 years of experience at a minimum working with the latest line of Allen Bradley Panelview HMIs and Versa View Panel PCs. 
  • 3 years of experience at a minimum working with the latest line of Allen Bradley Kinetix and PowerFlex drives. 
  • 3 years of experience working with the latest line of Rockwell industrial automation software including, Studio 5000, RSlogix5000, CCW, FactoryTalk View Machine and Site Editions, and RSLinx. 
  • Understanding of Process Network Infrastructure (Ethernet), controls hardware and field instrumentation. 
  • Proficient in reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and P&ID drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCad.
  • Ability to travel to project / work sites as required.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with Wonderware MES InTouch development. 
  • Rockwell Automation Software and Wonderware training/certification.
  • Experience with Kawasaki, ABB, or Fanuc Robotic programming. 
  • Experience with Cognex camera systems or other relative vision controls. 
     

Working Conditions

• Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with some time spent in a manufacturing environment
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
• Travel is necessary, potentially up to 50% for individual site schedule.
• While the majority of the tasks will be conducted on first shift, candidates must be prepared to provide support on all shifts, particularly for training-related items.
