Job Overview

The Manager, Sanitation will develop, implement, support and maintain procedures pertaining to sanitation, environmental monitoring, auditing, verification and validations in compliance with local, federal and industry regulations and certifications. The*insert title* manager will provide support for training and competency on associated programs. Additionally, the manager *Sanitation* will provide oversight to Sanitation Supervisors on execution of developed programs. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership oversight to sanitation supervisors
  • Lead sanitation team on verification of sanitation cycles, Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) execution and documentation
  • Lead the execution of the site's Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP)
  • Drive and provide technical direction to the sanitation and FSQA teams on EMP remediation
  • Support sanitation training in liaison with sanitation supervisors and EMP training in liaison with FSQA supervisors
  • Support Internal FSQA program audit initiatives and follow ups
  • Drive and manage corrective and preventive actions for remediation and internal audits
  • Coordinate and drive execution on special sanitation and environmental monitoring occurrences
  • Coordinate and drive execution with cross-functional teams on new building installations, modifications or emerging programs
  • Develop, update and implement working tools for new applicable programs, in liaison with corporate Sanitation
  • Liaise with vendors and direct sanitation team on sanitation supplies management
  • Lead the site's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program
  • Develop supportive relationships with Operations and other support staff (Quality, Distribution, Maintenance) to achieve results and maintain the highest standards for product safety and quality
  • Assist with information or research to help resolve Food Safety and Quality concerns
  • Assist with selection, hiring, advancement, transfer, promotion and termination decisions for the department
  • Enforce all safety procedures per company policies
  • Motivate and lead by example

  • The pay for this position is $70,700.00-$102,900.00. All offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees and certifications, and internal equity. This range is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, food science or other related field or 7 years of progressive food sciences/industry experiences.   
  • 3 years or more of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years or more of related sanitation experience in the Dairy/Food industry
  • Energetic, creative, self-directed manager with high level of integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • In depth understanding of sanitation and environmental programs
  • Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
  • Effective team building and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond the routine issues.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with thermal processing and/or industrial pasteurization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Related Science Degree.
  • 5 years of dairy and/or packaging experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • SQF certified.  
  • PCQI Certified.
  • HACCP Certification​.

Working Conditions

• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
