Job Overview

The Safety & Training Clerk provides clerical support related to safety and training to production supervisors and management.

Job Responsibilities

• Calculate monthly safety related data for supervision/management review. 
• Update the OSHA 300 Log.
• Maintain training records.
• Inspect safety related equipment (ex:  spills kits, first aid kits, AEDs, fire extinguishers, emergency showers and eyewashes, emergency lighting, etc.)
• Create, distribute, and track safety talks and single point lessons that will be given to line personnel. 
• Ensure monthly chemical inventory was conducted and documented by chemical suppliers.  Keep a copy.
• Coordinate annual hearing testing.
• Assist in development of “task based” LOTO Procedures.
• Update the “Marlin Board” and other Safety Boards.
• Review safety and/or training documentation and inspections.  Summarize for review.
• Maintain Hazard ID and Safety Observation Logs and follow up on items.
• Maintain accurate and complete files, including inspections, written programs, and reports. 
• Communicate effectively.  
• Present in front of large groups.
• Conduct training sessions, including New Hire Orientation and OJT Train the Trainer, on all shifts.
• Lead the Safety Committee.  Maintain the minutes.
• Conduct monthly safety audits.  Include appropriate members of the management team.
• Participate in incident investigations with supervisors/managers.
• Update the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in MSDS Online.
• Maintain PSM Related Paperwork.
• Communicate and track internal training requirements including training gaps
• Work with the OJT program document owners on document revisions and OJT 90-day competency evaluations.
• Coordinate the delivery of required training programs with department managers, supervisors and trainers.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager. 

Required Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED. 
• General understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.   
• Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.   
• Ability to regularly create and update electronic documents.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and problem solve.

Working Conditions

• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with some time spent in a manufacturing environment
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
