Job Overview
The Whey Plant Production Manager is responsible for the operations of the whey facility.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize, lead and supervise whey employees
- Manage and coach supervisors to strengthen and enhance their management skills.
- Administer an open door policy with employees to address issues, problems and concerns.
- Challenge manufacturing systems for continuous improvement
- Provide input and guidance on new equipment purchases.
- Work closely with the quality control department, assisting with information gathering and follow up.
- Coordinate with production schedules for daily scheduling changes and updates.
- Process daily employee issues and complaints; listen well and provide tactful feedback.
- Facilitate and assist with special projects, trials, customer requests, samples, etc.
- Assist with selection, hiring, advancement, transfer, promotion and termination decisions for the department.
- All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
- All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
The annual salary for this position is $87,100.00 - $113,200.00. All offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees and certifications, and internal equity. This range is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of production management experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field.
- MES experience.
- SAP experience.
- Experience leading a large production team.
- In depth understanding of production principles and general plant operations.
- Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
- Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
- Ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to production supervisors, as well as line personnel.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
Working Conditions
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
