Controls Engineer Internship

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Controls Engineer Intern at our Adams Plant located in Adams, New York. From the start, interns are challenged to demonstrate their strengths and apply their knowledge to help us achieve our business strategy. This is a paid 10-week internship running from June through August of 2026.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with PLC programming maintenance and utilizing online PLC training. 
• Opportunity to work with engineers on a daily basis and shadow specialist when feasible. 
• Participate in a variety of business projects and opportunities as part of the GLC Intern Association.
• Participate in a variety of personal and professional developmental workshops.
• Participate and execute in a community service project in alignment with GLC’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
• Up to 20% travel required (if needed).
• All GLC interns are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
• All GLC interns are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

• Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related field.
• Year in school: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. 
• Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
• Must be legally authorized to work a company in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Education and Experience

• Problem solving skills.
• Direct experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.
