Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician- Forklift ensures maximum operating efficiency, maintenance and repair of forklifts and equipment in the facility.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to plant requests for immediate attention to forklift issues and problems.
- Maintain forklift equipment.
- Maintain records of preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Create requisitions of parts and supplies to maintain equipment.
- Troubleshoot forklift problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.
- Diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.
- Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.
- Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required.
- Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot using electrical diagrams and hydraulic diagrams.
- Maintain an organized and neat work area.
- Perform preventative maintenance on GLC forklifts, pallet jacks, all material handling equipment, aerial lifts.
- Repair or replace parts (broken or faulty) on all equipment.
- Repair or replace tires and wheels when required.
- Install, program and maintain impact system on forklifts. (keytroller)

- Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year maintenance experience.
- Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Familiar with forklifts and related equipment.
- Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Manufacturing, automotive, military or recent trade school graduates with applied skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to weld. (TIG, MIG and Stick).
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and hydraulic drawings.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
- 1 year of food manufacturing experience or more.
- Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
- 2 years of forklift repair experience and/or training or more.
- SAP experience.
Working Conditions
• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
• Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
• Product weight: up to 100 lbs
• Use of motor skills to safely drive tow motors or other motorized vehicles in tight quarters.
