Job Overview
The Grinder Helper facilitates the addition of cheese ingredients to maintain the proper blend of cheese product.
Job Responsibilities
• Follows production schedule that is communicated by work leader or supervisor.
• Transfers cheese materials for each blend, staged in the setup racks out to the grinder area.
• Assure that all necessary ingredients are ready and on hand for use.
• Assists with stripping cardboard and plastic from the cheese and loads it onto the grinder belt using a forklift.
• Read blend sheets and follows instructions that may be given on the blend sheets to standardize blender.
• Scrape any mold found on cheese and deposits mold in detained product tubs.
- Weigh and record fish bait on fish bait recording sheets.
- If there are any abnormalities in cheese quality notifies Quality Assurance and Supervisor.
• Stays ahead on job tasks as much as possible to assure that cooks have blenders ready to run and don’t run out of cheese.
• Keep work area neat and disposes of cardboard, plastic, and any work debris.
• Practices good housekeeping of work areas and grinder office. Keep floor swept around grinders.
• Assure that all necessary ingredients are ready and on hand for use.
• Notify supervisor if any problems occur.
• Unplug grinder when plugged.
• Use prescribed tools in the manner in which they were intended.
• Clean, organize or performs projects given to them by the Supervisor.
• Assist with the training of new employees when requested by Supervisor.
• Fill out all paperwork completely and correctly.
• Sanitize lines at start up.
• Inspect grinder screens in the beginning of each shift.
• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
• All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Ability to read production schedule and plan and organize workday.
• Ability to move in a fast-paced environment, repeatedly lifting and moving ingredients.
• Self-motivated and can work with limited supervision.
• Ability to operate a handheld computer/scanner.
• Ability to operate various Powered Industrial Trucks.
• Ability to manage time and organize work.
• Ability to follow instructions and proper work procedures.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and management.
• Good communication skills: verbal and written.
Preferred Education and Experience
• High School diploma or GED.
• MES experience.
• SAP experience.
• Basic computer skills.
